OnePlus 6T ‘Screen Unlock’ in-display fingerprint technology teased in video

OnePlus 6T in-display fingerprint sensor

OnePlus is scheduled to launch the OnePlus 6T later this month, while we have been hearing/seeing details about the flagship, most of the details are currently under the wraps. The new OnePlus 6T teaser that was released a while ago teased an in-display fingerprint scanner which the company calls Screen Unlock.

The company says that ‘Screen Unlock’ is much more than a module attached to the back of the screen, it encompasses a wide array of software processes and hardware components that were carefully tuned to work perfectly. As you must be aware, there will be an optical fingerprint module, which houses a small lens under the display that can accurately register your fingerprint when pressed.

The screen is used as a light source to enhance the outline of your fingerprint, enabling the sensor to accurately read its exact dimensions and shape. OnePlus will use the dedicated ‘Trust Zone’ in the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 to store your fingerprint information and whenever Screen Unlock is used, your fingerprint is compared to the information stored in the Trust Zone. Screen Unlock has been in development for a long time. Surprisingly, OnePlus says that it has tried to implement it on the OnePlus 5T, owing to hit the consistency high recognition rate, it backed out.
