Most of the apps on Android these days collect user’s Location information, activity data, etc and Google’s various apps are among them and collect a boatload of user information. Users could also view their entire online activity through Google’s My Activity tool. In similar lines, today, Google is giving more control to users of their data by introducing the new auto-delete feature for Location History and activity data.
With the new auto-delete feature, users can set a time limit for how long you want your activity data to be saved. Users can choose to keep the data for 3 months or 18 months and any data older than that will be automatically deleted by Google.
The recommendations will not be affected and users will continue to receive recommendations, but it will be only based on the limited data or access that a user shares.
This new auto-delete feature is coming first to Location History and Web & App Activity that includes user’s Chrome browsing history, Google Maps location history, history from Google’s Discover feature and more and will be rolling out in the coming weeks.
