Google Meet now available in Gmail on iOS and Android

Back in April, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Google announced that they were making their video conferencing service “Meet”, free and available to everyone via Gmail. It was initially available for Gmail on the web, and now they are bringing it to Gmail on Android and iOS.

The Gmail app on both iOS and Android will receive an update soon where a new tab for Meet will be visible. In it, users can see the many ways to set up a Meet. To start a meeting, users can tap on  “New meeting” to start a meeting instantly. The meeting can be shared via a link or by scheduling it in Google Calendar. Users can also create a meeting with a code which can be used by others to join in.

In case users do not wish to see the Meet tab, it can be switched off by going to Settings→Account→Uncheck Meet.

Gmail is available for download via the Play Store for Android and App Store for iOS
