Paytm, one of India’s leading digital wallet and payment solutions, is introducing a new feature in its app called Mini apps, along with its own accompanying Android Mini App store. These “Mini apps” will be distributed from inside the Paytm app and can use a variety of payment solutions like Paytm Wallet, Paytm Payments Bank, UPI, etc.
The apps are designed to be low-cost and quick-to-build using HTML and javascript. Among the various payment solutions, Paytm wallet, Paytm Payments Bank account and UPI will invite zero charges while using credits will have a 2% charge. Paytm users can access these apps via the in-app Android Mini App store, removing the need to downloading or installing separate apps.
Some of the many developers and companies that have already joined this initiative are Decathalon, Ola, Park+, Rapido, Netmeds, 1MG, Domino’s Pizza, FreshMenu, and NoBroker. Paytm was previously testing Mini Apps with a select set of users in Beta and now, they are rolling it out to everyone.
Commenting on the launch, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder & CEO – Paytm said:
I am proud that we are today launching something that creates an opportunity for every Indian app developer. Paytm Mini App Store empowers our young Indian developers to leverage our reach and payments to build new innovative services. For Paytm users, it will be a seamless experience that doesn’t require any separate download and enables them to use their preferred payment option.
