Spotify has announced a partnership with Facebook to allow users to play audio from Spotify directly within Facebook through a new mini player without switching between apps.
The integration is rolling out in 27 markets – Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, South Africa, Thailand, Uruguay, and the U.S. The company will be rolling out the integration to other markets in the upcoming months.
If you are in any one of the countries listed above, you will be seeing a Play button pop up on your display when a Spotify link appears in your Facebook feed. You can tap the “Play” button on the song to listen.
Now, Spotify Premium users can play audio with full playback directly from Spotify inside the Facebook app on iOS and Android via a miniplayer. The same applies to the free users too but will have ads-supported content on Shuffle mode.
A few days back, Facebook has announced multiple audio products across its apps as it aims to tap into the Clubhouse-led trend. The product includes Sound bites, Podcast, and Live Audio Room. Along with the audio products, the company has also introduced multiple ways for audio creators to build the business.
To get people on board, Facebook is introducing an Audio Creator Fund to support emerging audio creators.
