Spotify, one of the world’s biggest music and podcast streaming platforms, has announced three new feature updates that will improve some social sharing aspects of the service. Users can now add timestamps when sharing podcasts, and Canvas is getting some extra capabilities.
According to Spotify, 40% of the music discovery on their platform occurs via Social media, so it isn’t surprising that the music giant is improving their social media sharing capabilities. Podcasts on Spotify in particular has been receiving some major attention recently, and the latest update adds the ability to include timestamps when sharing podcasts. People who click these links will be directly taken to this timestamp and start listening.
Canvas is one of Spotify’s big features for artists on the platform, providing them with another way of showcasing music artwork. Spotify previously supported sharing Canvas to Instagram, and now they can also be shared to Snapchat. Instagram also introduced new tools when sharing Canvas to these platforms that will help artists preview and visualize they will be presented on Snapchat or Instagram.
These changes will be rolling out today to all Spotify users and artists.
