Amazon releases Prime Video app for Mac with support for offline viewing

Amazon has finally released the Prime Video app for Mac, a year after it released the Windows UWP app. This lets Mac users download movies and TV shows offline for viewing them later. You can also turn on auto downloads and select the download quality from the settings.

It also has Picture-in-Picture (PiP) that lets you continue to watch your favorite content while interacting with other apps or websites, and the AirPlay feature lets you cast it to compatible devices. It also supports multi-user profiles, similar to other platforms.

There are in-app purchases for TV rentals and on-demand content, but it works in countries where it is supported. Some users are reporting that it also supports Spatial Audio for AirPods 3, AirPods Pro and Airpods Max, which is a nice addition.

The Amazon Prime Video app is available to download from the Apple App Store, and it is compatible with macOS Big Sur 11.4 and later. Even though the app is free, you need an Amazon Prime account to use the app.
