Just like any other year, the search engine giant Google has released its annual “Year in Search 2021” list. This list is all about top trending searches in India and around the globe. The searches in Google range from ‘Indian Premier League’, ‘CoWIN’, ‘ICC T20 World Cup’ to ‘Neeraj Chopra’.
According to Google, in India, the Indian Premier League and ICC T20 World Cup featured high up on the overall list of queries. Euro Cup, and Copa América were popular in sports, and sportspersons’ performance at the Tokyo Olympics were top of the list in personalities.
CoWIN and Covid Vaccine were in trend massively as people seeked information around the vaccinations options and their availability. Battle royale game Free Fire code redumption was also on the top.
‘Near me’ searches this year were Covid Vaccine, Covid tests, Covid hospital, as well as oxygen cylinders and CT scans as people fought the tide of the pandemic over the course of the year.

Furthermore, Google said that it found a lot of queries about vaccinations, therapists, body positivity and mental wellbeing. Google said that search interest for “therapists near me” hit record highs in 2021, and the phrase “why do I feel anxious for no reason” also hit an all-time high this year, spiking more than 400%.
