Samsung recently launched the Galaxy M53 5G as the successor of the Galaxy M52 5G in India. The phone retains the 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, but this is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC and replaces the 64MP camera with a 108MP main camera for the first time in the M series. We got to check out the smartphone, here are our first impressions.

The M52 5G has a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Infinity-O Super AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, same as the predecessor. The screen bright even in outdoors. It is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC and is the first M series phones to feature VC liquid cooling. It has 6GB / 8GB LPDDR4x of RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. The phone has auto data switching option that lets you make and receive calls or use data from your secondary SIM, even when your primary SIM is in a no network.
The phone runs Android 12 with One UI 4.1 on top. Samsung has promised 2 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates for the phone. It has Knox security and Secure Folder, but lacks NFC and Samsung Pay support that was present in the M52, so you only get Samsung Pay mini.
Inside the tiny punch-hole there is a 32-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture, same as the M52. The earpiece grill is on the top edge, but it still doesn’t have stereo speakers.
Coming to the button placements and ports, there is no change in the them compared to the predecessor. The power button that includes the fingerprint sensor and the volume rockers are present on the right side . The hybrid dual SIM slot is present on the left side. The secondary microphone is on the top. The primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grill are on the bottom. It doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack. Since the sides have a plastic frame with a glossy finish, they attract fingerprints easily. Even though it lacks stereo speakers, it comes with Dolby Atmos which works only with a headset.
The phone has a quad camera arrangement that includes a 108-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera 2-megapixel depth and a 2-megapixel macro camera. Both the front and rear cameras support up to 4K 30 fps recording. Check out some camera samples below.
The phone has a plastic back with a matte finish, so the fingerprints are not visible. The phone weighs 176 grams, and is just 7.4mm thick even though it packs a 5000mAh battery. It supports up to 25W charger.
The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is priced at Rs. 26,499 for the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage version and the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage version costs Rs. 28,499. This is cheaper than the predecessor.
Additionally, there is a Rs. 2500 instant discount with ICICI Bank credit cards and EMI when it goes on sale on Amazon.in, Samsung India online store and offline stores starting from April 29th. Old M series phone users will get additional Rs. 2000 discount when they exchange their phone.
