Apple made the announcement today that it would officially begin livestreaming select events on Apple Music. The first concert will be a performance by Harry Styles this coming Friday (May 20th, 2022) at the UBS Arena in New York City. To all intents and purposes, it is an album launch party for Styles, whose third album, Harry’s House, is being released on the same day.
The homepage that Apple Music has created for the event features an interview with Styles on the creation of the soundtrack, a link for listeners to pre-add Harry’s House to their libraries, and a number of playlists that are based on the artist. This addition is welcome. It lets music enthusiasts in many locations view live performances without travelling or paying extra. The tweet doesn’t mention on-demand availability after the concert. It also doesn’t reveal a timetable of upcoming shows or who might be appearing in this series.

Apple has a long history of hosting live music events, beginning with the iTunes Festival and continuing with the Apple Music Festival until it was cancelled. The firm held a concert series called “Apple Music Live” in the United Kingdom in 2019, but it did not continue the series the following year, this was likely because of the epidemic.

Apple Music customers will get access to this feature free of charge in every region of the world.
Starting this Friday at 9 p.m. Eastern Time, the concert by Styles will be streamable to watch online via the Apple Music app. Additional airings of the performance will be accessible on May 22 at 12 p.m. and on May 26 at 5 a.m. (Eastern Time), respectively.
