Airtel has introduced “Always On” IoT connectivity solution. With the help of a dual-profile M2M eSIM from Airtel, an IOT device can always be linked to a mobile network from various Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in the eSIM.

The “Always On” service from Airtel meets the AIS-140 standard set by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and created by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) (MoRTH). Additionally, according to Airtel, it establishes standards for devices’ connectivity and GPS tracking capabilities in “all passenger-carrying buses, private fleets, and other public transport vehicles for tracking, safety, and security purposes.”
- Registered buses and taxis must equip this device by law. India just mandated AIS-140 trackers for hazardous cargo vehicles.
- Ambulances, mining and construction trucks that are far away, and other mission-critical and smart communication uses, need a more reliable and available network.
