Panasonic Avionics establishes new software engineering center in India

Panasonic Avionics is expanding its software development capabilities with a growing set of capabilities in Pune, India. The world’s leading supplier of in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems continues to enhance its global reach.

In 2020, Panasonic launched several products in India, including smartphones. This year, the brand has launched its IoT and AI-enabled platform, ‘Miraie,’ which includes a range of connected products for Connected Living Solutions.

Panasonic Avionics expands operations in India with new software design center

Panasonic Avionics, a subsidiary of Panasonic Corporation, has announced the opening of its new software design center in Pune, India. This investment marks the latest addition to Panasonic’s growing presence in India, where the company first entered the market in 1972. Today, Panasonic has over 13,000 employees across 13 locations in India, including the newly established software design center.

Enhancing passenger experience with innovative technology

The new center is part of Panasonic Avionics’ efforts to help airlines deliver a seamless digital experience for passengers. This involves leveraging cutting-edge in-flight entertainment (IFE) hardware, enterprise software, global connectivity, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services.

With the support of this new center, Panasonic Avionics is well-equipped to help airlines realize their passenger engagement vision. By expanding their talent pool, the company can replicate the full scale of narrowbody or widebody aircraft to test their IFE and connectivity software on-site. This helps airlines improve their in-cabin product, ultimately transforming the passenger experience.

Panasonic Avionics Invests in Global Software Engineering Capabilities

Panasonic Avionics’ investment in global software engineering capabilities will improve the time to market of in-flight entertainment systems, connectivity, and digital app solutions.

The company’s ‘build-operate-transfer’ (BOT) operation has employed over 250 skilled engineers, and a new operations facility is set to be unveiled in Pune in the next 12 months.

With plans for further growth, Panasonic Avionics will have worldwide software development sites in four locations and a global team of over 1,000 software developers.

Speaking on the announcement, Satyen Yadav, Chief Technology Officer of Panasonic Avionics Corporation, said:
