Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fol5, as the successor to last year’s Z Fold4. This brings a minor upgrade to the Fold4 with a new hinge that reduces the weight of the phone, and packs a more powerful chip. Here we have the unboxing and first impressions.

The phone retains the 7.6-inch Infinity Flex Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen on the inside with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate as the Fold4, but the screen is now 30% brighter at up to 1750 nits.
It still uses the 4MP Under Display Camera (UDC) on the inside.
It features a 6.2-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED display that also has 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. This has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.
There is a 10MP front camera for the outside screen.
The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in the Z Fold4 is replaced by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, which is the same as the Galaxy S23 series. It has 12GB of RAM and comes with up to 1TB storage model.
It still has an Armor Aluminum frame, but the new enhanced Flex Hinge with integrated hinge module features a dual rail structure, diffusing external impacts, so there is no gap and the phone is now sleeker at just 6.1mm when open. The phone weighs 253 grams, which is 10 grams lighter than the Z Fol4.
It has a power button with the fingerprint scanner and the volume rockers on the right side. The SIM slot is present on the left. The primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the speaker grill are on the bottom. The secondary microphone, and the second speaker grill are present on the top.
The phone has the same 50MP main sensor with OIS, 12MP ultra-wide camera, and 10MP telephoto with 3X optical zoom and 30X space zoom. It now supports 4K portrait video recording, thanks to ISP improvements in the new chip. Check out some camera samples.
The back has a smooth matte finish, and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. In addition to the Icy Blue, the phone also comes in Cream and Phantom Black colours. The Z Fold5 1TB model is available only in Icy Blue colour.
The company is selling the Slim S Pen Case separately for Rs. 7999. The S Pen Fold Edition is now slimmer and has also been fine-tuned to deliver a superior writing experience, says the company.
There is Galaxy Z Fold5 Standing Case with Strap priced at Rs. 5299, and the Eco-Leather Case costs Rs. 6999.
The Galaxy Z Fold5 starts at Rs. 1,54,999, for the 256GB model, which is same as the Z Fold4. As a part of launch offer, those who pre-order the phone will get the 512GB for the 256GB price and also get Rs. 8000 as bank cashback and Rs. 5,000 upgrade bonus.
