Apple’s next generation iPhone 15 is entering production earlier than expected at facilities in Tamil Nadu, India, according to Bloomberg. Major Apple supplier, Foxconn, is gearing up its Sriperumbudur plant to distribute the latest devices. The factory is poised to begin shipping the new iPhones mere weeks after they begin production in China.
This marks a major change from previous years where Indian iPhone assembly lagged behind China by six months or more. For the iPhone 14, Apple had 7% of units manufactured in India by late March.
The extent of iPhone 15 production in India will hinge on the availability of components, most of which are imported, and the smooth scaling up of production at the Foxconn facility in Chennai.
Other key Apple suppliers in India, such as Pegatron and a Wistron factory soon to be acquired by the Tata Group, will also be involved in assembling the iPhone 15 series.

The new iPhone 15 line-up is expected to boast features like thinner bezels, Dynamic Island, and USB-C ports. There are also rumors about the inclusion of a titanium frame for the Pro models, potentially affecting pricing.
Much like the previous year, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will likely retain the A16 Bionic chip, while the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models may be powered by the A17 chip.
Anticipated upgrades include an enhanced camera system for the 15 Pro Max, including a periscope camera—a first for iPhones.
If Apple follows its tradition of a September 13 conference, official invitations could be expected about a week before the event, possibly in early September.
