After teasers, Xiaomi today confirmed the launch of Xiaomi 14 series and its new HyperOS on October 26th at an event in China. The event is scheduled soon after Qualcomm introduces its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 this week.
The company already confirmed that the Xiaomi 14 series will use Leica Summilux lens and will be the first phones to run HyperOS, and will gradually replace MIUI.
The Xiaomi 14 series recently surfaced on Geekbench 5 with 16GB of RAM, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with single-core score of 1698 and a multi-core score of 6260. In Geekbench 6, it scored 2244 in a single-core score and a multi-core score of 6820.
Xiaomi HyperOS
Xiaomi HyperOS will be a major revamp since the launch of MIUI in 2010, said the company. MIUI is not only an improvement based on the interaction layer of the Android native system, but has already penetrated into the Linux kernel at the bottom of the system and made a lot of low-level changes in the system framework, performance scheduling, and kernel capabilities, said the CEO Lei Jun.
“In 2019, we began parallel research and development of Mina OS, a purely self-developed universal system, and verified it in small-scale mass production on some products. At the same time, we also successfully ran it on mobile phones in the laboratory, and some of the technical results have also been integrated into Xiaomi HyperOS,” he added.
In 2021, Xiaomi officially decided to build a car and started the research and development of car OS. At the beginning of 2022, it decided to unify the software architecture of the four systems of MIUI, Vela, Mina, and car OS. Since then, the bottom layer of Xiaomi’s operating system has been merged.
With a R&D team of more than 5,000 people and two years of development, Xiaomi’s HyperOS is all set to offer integration of “people, cars, and families,” said the CEO.
We should know more details in the coming days, before the launch of Xiaomi 14 series and the HyperOS later this week.
