Microsoft is set to unveil new Surface Pro and Surface Laptops later this month, according to a report by Zac Bowden of Windows Central.
These devices will be the company’s first AI PCs, supporting special AI features coming to Windows 11 later this year.
Microsoft Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6
The Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 are slated to be announced on March 21. They will boast new Intel Core Ultra and Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processors, equipped with next-gen NPUs for improved AI performance.
Notably, both product lines will offer Intel or Arm variants for the first time, providing users with more options. According to reports, the new chips will deliver significant performance and efficiency gains over previous models.
Both devices are expected to offer all-day battery life and high-end performance capabilities, and are expected to feature upgraded displays, ports, and other enhancements.
- The Surface Pro 10 is said to retain a similar design to its predecessor but will feature an upgraded anti-reflective OLED screen with HDR support and a new ultrawide front-facing webcam enhanced with AI Studio Effects.
- On the other hand, the Surface Laptop 6 will sport a sleeker design with thinner bezels, a new haptic touchpad, and an updated selection of ports, including USB-C and USB-A.
Release Schedule and AI Integration
The new devices will be released in two schedules, with the Intel models expected to launch in April, followed by the Arm variants in June.
These devices will be among the first to support Windows 11’s upcoming AI experiences, including on-device Copilot functionality, real-time live captions and translations, video game upscaling, enhanced Windows Studio Effects, and the innovative “AI Explorer” feature.
AI Explorer Windows 11
AI Explorer is described as an “advanced Copilot” that transforms the user’s computing experience by offering advanced search capabilities across all apps.
It allows users to search for previously opened conversations, documents, web pages, and images using natural language prompts. Additionally, AI Explorer can understand context, suggest tasks, and streamline workflows based on the user’s activities.
Expected Availability
While these new AI features are slated to debut with the Windows 11 version 24H2 update in the fall, it remains uncertain whether Microsoft will discuss them during the March 21 event.
