OPPO Reno 12 said to be powered by Dimensity 8250 SoC

MediaTek introduced the Dimensity 9300+ SoC at its MediaTek Dimensity Developer Conference (MDDC) 2024. At the event, the company also mentioned the Dimensity 8250 SoC as the toned down version of the Dimensity 8300 SoC.

OPPO is said to be the first to use the Dimensity 8250 SoC, which is also known as Dimensity 8200 Star Speed Edition, in its upcoming OPPO Reno12 smartphone.

This Octa-Core SoC is said to use TSMC 4nm process and feature 1 x Arm Cortex-A78 prime core operating at up to 3.1 GHz, 3x Arm Cortex-A78 performance core at 3.0GHz and 4x Arm Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 2.0GHz and Mali-G610 MC6, same as the Dimensity 8200.

According to rumours, Reno12 Pro will use MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ Star Speed Edition. Both these chips will feature MediaTek Star Speed Engine technology that been fully upgraded to unleash the potential of end-to-end gaming.

The MediaTek Star Speed Engine uses key technologies such as powerful computing power control capabilities, precise system monitoring, and network quality monitoring systems. It helps game developers create a full-quality experience with more realistic and smooth graphics, faster touch and network response, and longer battery life, allowing players to experience full-frame smooth immersive gaming moments, said the company.

To remind you, the Reno11 and Reno11 Pro which were introduced in China back in November last year use MediaTek Dimensity 8200 and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoCs. Both the Reno12 series phones use MediaTek SoCs, so it is not clear if there will be a Snapdragon-powered Reno12 Pro+ model, like the Reno10 series.

The OPPO Reno12 series phones are expected to be introduced sometime later this month.
