Zoom Phone service launched in India starting from Pune

Zoom Video Communications, Inc. has launched its Zoom Phone service in India, starting with native phone numbers in the Maharashtra Telecom Circle (Pune). This marks a significant step for multinational corporations (MNCs) and Indian businesses, offering them a modern, unified communication solution with global reach.

Expanding to Major Indian Cities

Following Pune, Zoom Phone will be available in Karnataka (Bangalore), Tamil Nadu (Chennai), Andhra Pradesh (Hyderabad), Mumbai, and Delhi, covering key technology hubs across India.

In April 2023, Zoom India obtained the necessary Unified License from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), paving the way for its domestic infrastructure development. This investment ensures compliance with Indian regulations and positions Zoom as a leader in the cloud PBX market.

Enhanced Features and AI Integration

Zoom Phone offers a user-friendly interface, reliable voice communication, and seamless integration with Zoom Workplace. It provides local telephony services, including inbound and outbound calling, making it a suitable replacement for traditional PBX systems.

Additionally, Zoom Phone leverages AI Companion to boost call productivity. Users can request post-call summaries, prioritize voicemail messages, and extract tasks from voicemails, streamlining their workflow.

Comprehensive Collaboration Platform

Zoom Phone integrates with popular business applications, contact center partners, and hardware providers, creating a comprehensive collaboration platform for businesses of all sizes.

By combining advanced features, global coverage, and AI-powered capabilities, Zoom Phone offers a compelling solution for Indian organizations seeking a modern, efficient communication system.

Commenting on the launch, Velchamy Sankarlingam, president of product and engineering, Zoom, said:

Zoom’s cloud PBX service meets the requirements of India’s Unified Telecom license which requires building the dedicated local interconnection infrastructure in accordance with the regulatory requirements. This demonstrates Zoom’s commitment to bringing a trusted service that our customers want.

Globally, Zoom Phone saw continued expansion in the market, amassing five Zoom Phone customers with 100k+ seats in Q1 FY25, demonstrating our customers’ trust in Zoom for critical employee and customer experience processes. Our latest offering reaffirms Zoom’s leadership in delivering seamless cloud services on a global scale, enhanced by local investments to help ensure compliance and service excellence in every market, including India.
