Amazon Prime Video will show Ads in India starting in 2025

After rolling out Ads in the U.S., Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, and the U.K. earlier this year, Amazon has confirmed that Prime Video will be introducing limited ads in India starting in 2025.

Ads will also come to Prime Video in Brazil, Japan, the Netherlands and New Zealand next year. The reason for implementing ads is aimed at funding continued investment in content, said the company, and said that it will have meaningfully fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming TV providers.

Even though there will be ads in some plans, customers will have the option to pay for an ad-free subscription, with the price to be announced later, confirmed Amazon. The company said that it will email Prime members several weeks before ads are introduced into Prime Video with information on how to sign up for the ad-free option if they would like.

The current prime membership price, which now cost Rs. 1,499 per year, will not change in 2025. Prime Lite subscribers will continue to have access to ad-supported Prime Video’s full library of content, on any single device (TV or mobile) in 720p High-Definition.
