vivo V50: India’s first 3D-Star Technology, quad-curved display, 6000mAh battery confirmed ahead of launch

After rumours, vivo has started teasing the V50 smartphone in the company’s V series in India, starting with the design of the phone. The teaser image shows two colours, dual rear cameras, ZEISS optics and Aura Light.

India’s First 3D-Star Technology

The Starry Night variant of the V50 smartphone will use India’s First 3D-Star Technology. This feature transforms the phone’s back panel into a living, breathing canvas that interacts with its environment.

Under direct sunlight or focused indoor lighting, the panel shimmers like a star-studded night sky. “The effect is dynamic, with holographic dots elongating into meteor-like streaks under elongated light sources or glowing softly under circular lights, which draws inspiration from the vast and limitless cosmos,” said the company.

It will also come in Rose Red variant that embodies luxury and celebration, seamlessly reflecting the depth and vibrance of timeless cultural traditions, the company added.

India’s slimmest smartphone in the 6000mAh battery category

vivo also said that the phone will be the slimmest smartphone in India in the 6000mAh battery category. It will support 90W fast charging. The Titanium Gray variant is just 7.39mm thick, Rose Red is 7.57mm and the Starry Night Blue is 7.67mm.

Quad-curved display

The V50 will be the first phone in the V series to feature a quad-curved display, promising an edge-to-edge screen that minimizes bezels to near invisibility, offering an unparalleled viewing experience.

Other specifications

“vivo V50 coming soon to make weddings, pro,” says the company’s recent teaser, hinting at the new ZEISS Portrait styles. Based on earlier rumours, the phone will be powered by Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, and pack 50MP + 50MP dual rear cameras along with a 50MP front camera.

This will also be the first V series phone to come with both IP68 and IP69 ratings.

Launch date?

The phone is rumored to launch in India on February 18th, but the teaser hints at the launch on February 20th. The phone should be sold on vivo India online store, in addition to Flipkart and offline stores.
