OnePlus will not launch OnePlus Open 2 in 2025

OnePlus fans eager for a follow-up to the 2023 OnePlus Open foldable will have to wait longer. The company has confirmed it will not be releasing the successor, OnePlus Open 2 this year. This announcement comes despite leaked renders and specifications circulating online in recent months.

Instead of a new model to the OnePlus Open, last year the company launched the Open Apex Edition, featuring a Crimson Shadow color, 16GB RAM, and a massive 1TB of storage, and VIP Mode, in an aim to cater to users seeking top-tier performance.

While the Open 2 is off the table for 2024, OnePlus has reassured its commitment to the foldable market.

The company stated its intention to continue developing foldable phones and revealed plans to integrate hardware features like new materials and more sophisticated engineering from the upcoming OPPO Find N5 into future OnePlus devices. This suggests a focus on leveraging OPPO’s advancements in foldable technology.

Existing OnePlus Open owners can rest assured. OnePlus has pledged continued support for the original Open, promising regular software updates, security patches, and ongoing after-sales service.
