LG Gaming Portal is coming to Smart Monitors, StanbyME screens

LG Electronics (LG) has announced plans to expand its Gaming Portal service to a broader range of devices in 2025. Currently available on LG Smart TVs running webOS 23 and above in 19 markets, the company intends to extend the service to additional markets, platforms, and devices, including LG Smart Monitors and StanbyME lifestyle screens, by the second quarter of the year.

The Gaming Portal functions as a centralized hub for game streaming, offering access to various titles through partnerships with cloud gaming services.

These partnerships include NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Amazon Luna, Boosteroid, Blacknut, and the upcoming addition of Xbox Cloud, alongside native webOS app games. This arrangement provides users with a selection of games spanning multiple genres.

The service is designed to be accessible through the Home Screen, featuring an interface intended to simplify game discovery and access. Users can navigate a curated list of applications, including cloud gaming platforms, webOS app games playable with remote controls, recently played titles, trending games, editor’s picks, and personalized gaming options.

The Gaming Portal offers a menu allowing users to select either “Play with Remote Control” or “Play with Game Pad,” streamlining the process of finding compatible games. My Page within the portal provides a centralized area for tracking achievements, earning badges, and viewing a summary of game progress. Users can also create personalized game lists within the My Games menu.

LG TVs supporting PC or console gaming offer 4K at 120Hz variable refresh rate (VRR), NVIDIA G-SYNC® Compatible, and AMD FreeSync Premium certification. The company’s LG OLED evo TVs feature 4K 165Hz VRR and have received ClearMR 10000 certification from VESA.

LG aims to provide a gaming experience on its webOS-powered screens by offering a selection of content, services, and an interface designed for gameplay.
