The long rumored HTC phablet was today launched at an event in Japan in the form of the HTC J Butterfly. Launched in partnership with Japan’s KDDI network, the Android Jellybean based smartphone packs in a 5 inch Super LCD 3 screen with Full HD resolution.
This results in an absolutely amazing 440 ppi. Coupled with the curved glass display, the viewing experience is poised to be absolutely amazing. Powering the phone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ 8064 clocked at 1.5Ghz. Other specs include 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a microSD card slot. An 8megapixel camera can be found at the back while a 2MP unit does duties on the front. The phone measures a fairly svelte 9.1 mm and the bezel is suitably small making this a very pocketable handset. The 2,020mAh battery is however a source of concern considering the number of pixels this is powering. The HTC J Butterfly is a Japan only model but we’re fairly certain we’ll be seeing a global varient very soon.
