Sony unveiled the Xperia Z, their flagship smartphone at the CES 2013 last month. We brought you the Xperia ZL photo gallery last month, we managed to get our hands on the Xperia Z at the MWC 2013. On the inside there is a quad-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory.
The Xperia Z has a 5 inch Full HD Reality display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The display uses mobile Bravia Engine 2 to offer vibrant color output. There is a 2.2 MP HD front-facing camera.
It has IP55 and IP57 ratings for dust and water resistance.
It runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and is upgradable to 4.2.
On the right side there is a large power/lock button and a volume rocker. There is a micro SIM card slot under the cover next to the power button.
On the left there is a USB port, micro SD card slot and a charging dock connector.
At the top there is a 3.5mm audio jack. Since the phone is water proof, all the slots are covered.
At the back there is a 13 MP camera with LED Flash, Exmor RS sensor for HDR images and video. It is capable of recording Full HD 1080p videos. There is NFC detection area below the camera.
It has glass back and has unique OmniBalance design.
The Sony Xperia Z packs a 2330 mAh battery and comes in Black, White and Purple colors. It is expected to go on sale next month.
