Nokia is working on a large sized phablet that would launch later this year, according to a recent report from The Financial Times. The report also says that Nokia plans to launch a Lumia PureView device equipped with a 41MP sensor similar to the Nokia 808 is expected to come in July. Rumors of the Nokia Lumia PureView device codenamed EOS surfaced earlier this year.
Nokia announced the Lumia 808 at the MWC 2012. The 41MP Lumia was expected to launch at the MWC 2013, but Nokia announced entry-level devices and mid-range Lumia devices at the MWC earlier this year. Nokia is also expected to release the Lumia 920’s successor codenamed Catwalk with a aluminium body and a PureView camera in June 2013. The report doesn’t say anything about the Windows RT tablet from Nokia, that has been rumored since last year.
A recent report says Microsoft will add support for third column of mid-size-tiled apps in the start screen to support 5 to 6-inch devices with 1080p support in the upcoming update. So anything is possible. Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note with a 5.3-inch HD screen at the IFA 2011, the Galaxy Note 2 followed it. The Galaxy Note 3 is expected to be announced at the IFA 2013 in September. Can we expect the Nokia’s phablet before the Note 3 ? Only time will tell.
