At the Abu Dhabi Nokia World Event, Nokia announced a few Lumia smartphones and few Asha feature phones. Among the Asha phones announced, the Asha 500 was the entry range device. The phone looks very much like the Asha 501 which was announced a few months back, but comes with a new crystal-clear look fusion of ice-like transparency and bold inner color.

There is a 2.8-inch QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) touch-screen display and it runs on the latest Nokia Asha software platform with Swipe UI and Nokia Fast lane multi-tasking screen that brings all the recent activities together. There is a 2MP camera on the back and there is no front camera. In terms of connectivity, there is 2G, WiFi, Bluetooth, FM Radio and there is a dual-SIM Variant as well.
In addition to the features it packs, it comes with 10 free downloadable games from the Nokia store. Internet browsing is taken care of by Nokia Express Browser that compresses data up to 90% and comes preloaded with apps like WhatsApp, Foursquare, Facebook and Twitter apps.
