The much awaited Google Nexus 5 is expected to launch in India as early as next week. LG Stores, LG Shoppes and retailer sources across various cities including Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai have confirmed to us that stocks will be arriving by Monday. Google has already listed the Nexus 5 on the Play Store at Rs. 28,999 for the 16GB version and Rs. 32,999 for the 32GB version, but LG would sell the phones in the market at Rs. 29,999 for the 16GB version and Rs. 33,999 for the 32GB version, which is Rs. 1000 higher than the Play Store pricing.
The higher price tag might be the MRP of the device, and the MOP might be closer to the Google Play pricing. LG branded stores or LG Shoppes would stock the devices first and the device is expected to go on sale from other retailers 2-3 days after launch. The Play Store listing is expected to go live soon for people who might want to buy it online.
The Google Nexus 5 manufactured by LG was announced back in October and it packs a 5 inch full HD IPS screen with LG’s own in-cell touch technology. The phone is powered by the blazing fast Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on on the latest version of Android 4.4 KitKat. We’ve already got hold of the 16 GB variant of the Nexus 5 and had unboxed it last week. You can also check out the benchmarks and the camera samples of the device.
