Nokia India eyeing Gaming and Music download market

Nokia is already trying to strengthen its presence in the Internet services market and now, Nokia India Pvt. Ltd is all set to come up with services like gaming, music downloads and navigation (Some time back Nokia announced that out of the 30 devices Nokia is planning to launch next year, almost 10 would be GPS enabled, so expect few of this 10 to be launched in India now) for the Indian consumer. Nokia launched these services under the name of Ovi in UK. I hope they keep the same name for the Indian mobile users.

Nokia India’s Multimedia Business Director, Vineet Taneja says, “We have always been known as a mobile phone company but this year, we are entering the internet services space. Continue reading “Nokia India eyeing Gaming and Music download market”

Vertu launches new range of Constellation Phones

v1.jpgv2.jpgv3.jpg

Vertu is a brand only for the chosen ones. By chosen ones, I don’t mean you have to be the extraordinary Neo of the famous sci-fi flick, The Matrix. For owning a Vertu, you should be super rich and spending money should be like breathing, a daily activity for you. Vertu had launched the Constellation range sometime back for the elite consumers.
Now, Vertu has released the Constellation Mixed Metal Edition of the Vertu Constellation range. These phones are made of stainless steel with gold accents and 18 carat gold is used to make the navigation button, side buttons, speaker vents, screws and the quarter turn locking device. The keypad is made up of ceramic and the back is wrapped with leather, black and violet.
For the uninformed, Vertu is a brand of premium phones by Nokia and are exclusively designed at the company’s UK design center under the able guidance of Principal Designer Mr. Frank Nuovo, who is Nokia’s Ex-Head of global Design.
I think Vertu is also manufactured in UK..but not very sure about this information.
Even if there are so many premium phones available in the market, Vertu makes sure that their phones stand apart….no wonder they are a Nokia company.

Beam it Up Scotty

beamitupscotty.gif

There is a new cool website on the block, Beam It Up Scotty, this website allows you to send content to your or another person’s mobile phone. The website is free of cost and the good thing about this website is it allows you convert and compress the media so that it is easily compatible with your cell phone.
Some people thought that this website is just made to collect phone number and email addresses and then sell it to anyone else. But no, the company is incorporated in Germany, which comes under European Union. And every body knows how stringent are EU’s Data Protection Laws..anyways…this website will without doubt be a hit among users and will be overused..like it has happened with Nokia’s MOSH.

Sony Ericsson revamps Web presence.

Sony_Ericsson_UK.bmp

Sony Ericsson is revamping its web presence. The company has a new Press Center webpage, which you can see here. Browsing press material is pretty easy now with this new interface.
Sony Ericsson’s UK homepage has also been through some major design changes, which you can see here.
Sony Ericsson has realized that apart from good imaging (K Series) & music experience (W Series), web presence also matters.

Efforts behind Nokia’s Designs.

We all are aware of the fact that Nokia is very serious when it comes to the designing of mobile phones. Nokia has design centers all over the world, where designers from different geographies come together, brainstorm and design phones that get a WOW from Nokia’s customer.

Nokia is well aware of the fact that any electronic gadget, no matter how superior it is w.r.t functionality, has to have a equally beautiful design, if it wants to grab attention of the end customer. Continue reading “Efforts behind Nokia’s Designs.”

Whenever I see a phone being launched my mind gets cramped up with thoughts like how will it feel in my hands?,

what kind of functions will it have? how good is the image quality? what about sound quality and compatibility for different sound formats?…..unless and until I buy that phone or go to a shop (which has a working model) or any of my friend buy it, these questions will remain unanswered…but now don’t worry dude, TryPhone helps you in trying out a mobile handset as if you are trying them out at a shop. Nokia N95 Updated or Upgraded

A new firmware upgrade is available for the Nokia N95

First we’ll have a taste of the Changes in the new firmware :

  • New Welcome application.
  • New camera software and tweaks from the 8GB model – FAR faster shot to shot time, with ‘Processing image message’ during any delays. I suspect the image processing algorithms have changed too, to remove some of the remaining artificial edge enhancement in the v12 firmware.
  • Long press on camera button launches camera if shutter is open.
  • New My Nokia SMS tips and mobile web portal system.
  • Demand paging (for ROM applications) with 30 plus MB free RAM after booting.
  • Search 4.0 integration on standby screen.
  • Old multimedia menu still there, i.e. it’s not the new style.
  • N-Gage game previews (FIFA, Asphalt) and portal/shortcut to upcoming N-Gage client, as in N81 and N95 8GB.
  • Nokia Music Store client, although the store server hasn’t been updated to handle the N95 yet – maybe this’ll happen later today.
  • Keypress bug gone.
  • Music player has a new visualisation and also remembers where you got to in a podcast, so you can pick it up again later on.
  • No auto-screen rotation, looks like I was wrong predicting this, so we need Samir’s RotateMe after all – someone please help him get this signed ASAP!
  • Assorted other minor tweaks, along the same lines as the N95 8GB, with video ringtones and theme animations.

N95 NAM Black and 1900Mhz 3G Power!

Why is Nokia so interested in the American Market? This is yet another US Edition N95. But since it’s based on the N95 Classic and not the newer N95-3 it seems to have been largely ignored. It even uses the same old 950mA battery to go with it! Bummer!! The only major difference seem to be that it has a black back body and is also optimized to work with the North American Network – hence the name.

The N95 NAM’s camera has 5 mega pixels of clarity, featuring a 2.6″ display and Carl Zeiss optics. Shoot in DVD-like quality video up to 30 frames per second. Continue reading “N95 NAM Black and 1900Mhz 3G Power!”
