At the MWC 2014 earlier this year, Whatsapp were present and their CEO was just fresh from the 19 billion USD deal with Facebook. At the event, Whatsapp discussed their post Facebook acquisition plans and they also mentioned that they will be introducing VoIP calls in Q2 2014. More than two years ago Samsung announced the Samsung Galaxy Beam – an Android smartphone that came with a projector on its top. The Samsung Galaxy Beam featured mid-range specifications at that time and it was not about specs. As the name suggests, Galaxy Beam was about projection. Last year, we did not see a successor to it, but it seems like Samsung is not giving up so easily. The probably Galaxy Beam successor has been spotted in the wild, but with a metal build.

Earlier this year, at the CES 2014, Asus announced the Transformer Duet which ran Android and Windows side by side. This was probably designed for those who wanted the best of both the worlds and it was quite a hit at the CES 2014. Even an Indian manufacturer – Micromax, announced a similar dual boot device – Micromax Laptab which was supposed to be available in February.
When Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom last year, a lot of folks were confused if it was a camera or a smartphone – apparently, it was both. Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, getting its moniker from the then company flagship, was expected to come with the top of the line specs, but it wasn’t true then. Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom was modest in terms of specifications and came with a 16MP camera on its back along with a 10x optical zoom. The device looked more like a camera than a smartphone.

iberry Auxus Nuclea N2 was recently launched in India. In terms of design, to say that it was inspired by Samsung Galaxy Note 3 would be an understatement. iberry went to great lengths that the device would look exactly like the very popular Samsung Galaxy Note 3. LG has been coming back to the Android territory rather strongly. The LG Optimus G kicked off things for the South Korean manufacturing giant as it was warmly received by people and Google thought that is how their Nexus range should look like and LG came up with LG Nexus 4 and a similar thing happened with the LG G2 as Google’s Nexus 5 takes its cues from the LG G2. LG G2 was announced sometime in August last year, but it looks like LG G3 could see a June launch giving it time before Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
Whatsapp recently updated their Android version with very welcome privacy settings that allows you to disable others the ability to see your last seen time and your profile. Today, they have updated their BlackBerry version to reflect the same.

India is becoming the next battleground for smartphone manufacturers. The smartphone adoption rate in India is increasing and the sales are a clear indication of that. A lot of Indian manufacturers like Micromax, Karbonn have reaped the benefits of it. Looks like people from abroad are also interested.
