Google Chromecast now lets you stream embedded videos from Chrome browser for Android

When Google announced their $35 HDMI dongle in 2013, everybody saw a lot of potential for Google Chromecast. But Google had been little slow in opening up the SDK for the developers and it looks like it is slowly catching up. As of March 2014, you can now stream the videos from a webpage on your Google Chrome browser to your TV.

Gartner Report : Worldwide Tablet sales up by 68% and Android continues to dominate

According to Gartner, the year 2013 was a pretty good year for tablets – a total of 195.4 million units were shipped during the year. The almost 200 million units is a 68% increase over the number of tablets shipped during 2012. The report also says that the sales of tablets was boosted by the low end smaller tablets and hence Android continues to dominate the tablet market. You can check out the numbers below.

Microsoft opens up Office 365 Android SDK

Microsoft has released the Office 365 software development kit for Android. With this, Microsoft is now opening up its SharePoint lists and files, Exchange contacts, mails and calendars to developers. Microsoft has made the preview available for download straight from GitHub.

Oppo confirms two variants of Oppo Find 7 are coming

Oppo has used its Twitter account very efficiently to keep its fans guessing about what to expect from their next flagship. It was through the official Twitter account that they teased that Oppo Find 7 would be coming with a 2K display sporting a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. They also used Twitter to announce that they will be unveiling the next generation Oppo flagship in an event on March 19.

Huawei reportedly has a 2K smartphone in the works

Huawei is a company known to push boundaries as they were the first to introduce a 6inch + device in the form of Huawei Ascend Mate. Ever since, they have been lagging behind other Chinese manufacturers, but things are looking good now. Chinese manufacturer Oppo was the first company to come up with a 5inch Full HD smartphone in the form of Oppo Find 5 and they would have wanted to continue the being first in displays race with the Oppo Find 7, but that wasn’t the case. Vivo XPlay 3S is the world’s first smartphone to feature a 2K display sporting a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. According to rumors, Huawei also has plants to compete in the pixel race and is reportedly working on its own version of a 2K display smartphone.

Oppo Find 7 rumored to be coming with a 50MP camera

Oppo Find 5 was the first Full HD smartphone and Oppo had hoped they would be the first to announce a 2K display phone in the form of Oppo Find 7 at CES 2014 earlier this year, but things did not go according to their plan and they are yet to announce the Oppo Find 7. Oppo has set the announcement of Oppo Find 7 for March 19 and we look forward to that day.

Samsung Chromebook 2 rumored to be coming with Galaxy Note 3 style faux leather build

At the IFA 2013, Samsung announced its yesteryear flagship – Galaxy Note 3 and it set a trend for things to come. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 came with a faux leather back and it continued on to other Samsung Galaxy devices – Galaxy Round, Galaxy Grand 2. Samsung somehow missed it on their follow up of S-series of flagship devices – Galaxy S5. Despite missing it on the company’s flagship, Samsung seems to continue the faux leather trend, but this time in a Chromebook.

Nokia X can now access Google Play Store, unofficially ofcourse

Nokia X was launched less than a couple of weeks, but it has already been hacked. That is the thing about Android smartphones – you can get root user access and do things that wouldn’t be otherwise possible. As rumored, Nokia introduced an Android smartphone at MWC 2014, but with their own restrictions. Nokia had completely removed Google from the equation and pushed a lot of its own code and Nokia X series devices use Microsoft’s services instead of Google.

Apple iPad Mini with Retina Display Review

Introduction

Apple had introduced the original iPad Mini without the RETINA display and that pretty much confirmed that the second generation of Apple iPad Mini would come with the RETINA display. As expected, Apple crammed a high resolution display(same resolution as the iPad Air) into the second generation iPad Mini which Apple calls – iPad Mini with Retina Display. In addition to sporting a high resolution display, the iPad Mini competes with Apple’s iPad Air in terms of specifications. Apple is using the same processing power inside each of its flagship iOS device – iPhone 5s, iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina Display.

Samsung opens up Fingerprint Scanner for developers, unlike Apple
