Facebook has scooped up fitness tracking app Moves for an undisclosed sum. The app which is available on Android and iPhone will continue to run separately even after the acquisition. Developed by ProtoGeo Oy, the 2-year-old Helsinki company’s Moves app runs in the background on users’ phones and uses location data to build up a profile of their activities throughout the day.

Apple iPhone sales in India soar to 55%, more than doubled YoY
Apple revealed its Q2 financial report today by recording $45.6 billion in revenues. The company shipped 43.72 million iPhones in the last quarter in addition to 16.35 million iPads. Giving insights about its performance in India, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that iPhone sales have increased 55% over the past year.

Facebook reports Q1 2014 earnings, records $2.5 billion in revenues
Facebook released its earnings report for Q1 2014 posting revenue of $2.5 billion, which is an increase of 76 percent since 2013. The social network exceeded Wall Street expectations which were between $2.36 and $2.4 billion. Facebook’s mobile ads represented 59 percent of its total ad revenue in the first quarter, up from 30 per cent in the year-ago period. The company’s revenue from advertising was $2.27 billion, up 82% over that time.
