Samsung Galaxy S5 starts receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop update in Korea

Samsung has started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Galaxy S5 devices in South Korea. Galaxy S5 models of Korean mobile carriers SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus  are receiving the Lollipop update from December 5th.

Last night, news broke of a woman passenger allegedly raped by a Uber driver, in New Delhi. Hearing accounts of rape and violence against women is not new in this country, sadly, but what makes this even more shocking is the association with Uber, a disruptive mobile-first taxi platform that claims to have the “safest rides on the road“. According to the well-funded American startup’s website, safety is the second most important thing you need to know about them, right after the app, one of the most important user-facing features of their platform. For a company that prides itself on safety features, this is terrible news. Why and how did Uber let this happen? There are many answers to this question, but let’s give them a shot of reality first, with a warm message they can resonate with, “Welcome to India.”.

Galaxy Note Edge UK launch delayed again?

The rollout of the Galaxy Note Edge is fast turning into Samsung’s saga of the year as the unique twin of the Galaxy Note 4 could be delayed yet again. We’ve already seen the handset launch slip with the initial launch rumoured for the middle of November before being pushed back to November 28 and then again to December 12th. The latest information we have comes directly from Samsung’s UK online store and suggests the launch may be pushed back a further 5 days with Note Edge shipments set to begin on December 17th. Vivo X5Max with just 4.75mm thickness scheduled to launch in India on 15th December

Just a few weeks back we saw the Vivo X5Max being certified in China and now it looks like the handset is making its way to our shores. Arguably the world’s slimmest handset, the phone has a thickness of just 4.75mm. This makes it slimmer than the already wafer thin Gionee S5.1.

Xiaomi Redmi 1S will be back on sale in India on Dec 8 without registration

Xiaomi Redmi Note went on sale earlier this week on December 2nd, and it sold out in 6 seconds in the first flash sale. Xiaomi usually stops selling the earlier models temporarily to concentrate more on the new model. Now the company has decided to bring back the Redmi 1S, at least for a day. Three UK 4G – 3m customers, 48% coverage

Three UK have revealed that their superfast 4G network is now available to 48% of the UK population with 3.1 million of their customers are now using the next-generation network. Three was the last network to roll out 4G ten months ago and despite the 48% coverage, they are still behind EE (78%), O2 and Vodafone (51%). Apple set to open its first store in Belgium

Apple looks set to open its first retail store in Belgium following years of speculation if postings on its jobs page are to be believed. Belgian blog Apple Nieuws Vlaanderen reports that yesterday Apple posted six job listings for positions in an upcoming Retail location in Brussels. Oppo Find 7 up for pre-order in the UK

The Oppo Find 7 may have been introduced in March this year but the handset has finally made it’s way to the UK and is available to pre-order from Amazon UK. The handset starts at £319 for the 16GB version whilst those wanting more storage will have to fork out £379 for the 32GB version.
