Qualcomm achieves 1Gbps download speeds with X50 5G modem, shows 5G smartphone reference design
At the ongoing Qualcomm 4G/5G summit, Qualcomm officially introduced the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem and has demoed the 5G data connectivity on a single-chip 5G modem. The company with its 5G modem was able to deliver 1-gigabit per second download speeds and a data connection of 28GHz mmWave radio frequency band combined with advanced signal processing technologies.
Nokia 5G FIRST end-to-end 5G solution announced in partnership with Verizon
Nokia has announced 5G FIRST end-to-end 5G solution that incorporates AirScale and AirFrame technology, including AirScale massive MIMO Adaptive Antenna, Cloud Packet Core and mobile transport to bring new capabilities to operators. 5G specifications announced: 20Gbps download and 10Gbps upload
We got the official 5G logo earlier this month. Earlier this week the International Telcommunication Union (ITU) released a new report to confirm minimum requirements related to technical performance for IMT-2020 or 5G radio interface(s) which support the new capabilities of systems beyond IMT-2000 and IMT-Advanced. This outlines 13 specs that will need to be met for networks to call themselves 5G.

Samsung, Arqiva to conduct 5G trials in UK this year
Samsung has announced that it is joining hands with Arqiva, communications infrastructure and media services provider to conduct the United Kingdom’s first 5G trials with a focus on Fixed Wireless Access. The trial is set to take place in the second half of 2017 in London and will involve the deployment of an end-to-end 5G FWA solution network in the city centre, operating in the 28 GHz band.
