Airtel pays Rs. 8312.4 crore upfront payment for 5G to DoT

Airtel acquired 5G spectrum worth Rs. 43,084 crore in the 5G auction a few weeks back, and the company said that its 5G deployment will start in August 2022. Today, Airtel said that it has paid Rs 8312.4 crores to the Department of Telecom (Government of India) towards dues for spectrum acquired in the recently concluded 5G auctions. Nearly 90% of Indian smartphone users want to upgrade to 5G: Ookla

Reliance Jio Infocomm (Jio), Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea (Vi), and infrastructure company Adani Group were the four participants in the 5G auction in India. They paid a combined total of Rs 1.5 trillion (US$ 19 billion) for spectrum in the 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 3300 MHz, and 26 GHz frequency bands. Airtel 5G deployment to begin this August

Nokia today signed a partnership with top telecom operator Bharti Airtel for the implementation of 5G radio access networks (RAN). This multi-year agreement comes on the heels of the recently concluded 5G spectrum auctions and the allocation of pan-India spectrum to Bharti Airtel, demonstrating the company’s commitment to ushering India into the 5G era. Airtel conducts India’s first 5G trial in the 700MHz band with Nokia

Airtel today announced that it has successfully conducted India’s first 5G trial in the 700 MHz band in partnership with Nokia using 5G trial spectrum allocated to Airtel by the Department of Telecom. This comes after the company’s last month announcement that said that it has conducted India’s first 5G network demonstration in a rural geography in Bhaipur Bramanan village on the outskirts of Delhi/NCR. Airtel has rolled out 5G for Business initiative to demonstrate a wide range of enterprise grade use cases using high-speed and low latency networks. As a part of this, it has announced that it is partnering with global consulting and technology companies such as Accenture, AWS, CISCO, Ericsson, Google Cloud, Nokia, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to work with brands such as Apollo Hospitals, Flipkart and several leading manufacturing companies to test 5G based solutions. Airtel and Qualcomm partner for 5G services in India

Bharti Airtel recently demonstrated and orchestrate live 5G service over a commercial network in Hyderabad city. Today Airtel has announced that it has partnered with Qualcomm for accelerating 5G in India. Through Airtel’s network vendors and device partners, Airtel will utilize the Qualcomm 5G RAN Platforms to roll out virtualized and Open RAN-based 5G networks. Airtel says its network is 5G ready; successfully demonstrates live 5G services in Hyderabad

Airtel today announced that it has become the country’s first telcom performance to successfully demonstrate and orchestrate live 5G service over a commercial network in Hyderabad city. Airtel said that this has been carried out over its existing liberalised spectrum in the 1800MHz band through the NSA (Non Stand Alone) network technology using Ericsson 4G (DSS) radio infrastructure on OPPO Reno5 Pro and OPPO Find X2 Pro smartphones. Airtel begins building partnerships for 5G use cases; in talks with other companies for private LTE networks

At India Mobile Congress (IMC) last year and this year, Airtel showcased 5G use cases, futuristic digital technologies, and more. While some countries have started deploying commercial 5G networks, Indian telecom operators are yet to get the spectrum allocated. But in the meantime, Airtel has now said that they have started building partnerships and alliances for right 5G use cases and is also in talks for private LTE networks.
