Airtel has launched its 4G LTE services in Sambalpur in Orissa, after it launched it in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela, Balasore and Brahmapur. Airtel has launched of its Platinum 3G services for customers in Indore and Haryana. The Platinum 3G network will boost indoor coverage, enhance voice clarity, deliver faster internet speeds and will also help optimize the back-end engagement between the network and mobile devices, said the company. Airtel, which is on a roll by expanding its 4G services to a number of cities in India is planning to launch 4G branded smartphones in India, as per a latest report from PTI.
India’s leading private telecom operator Airtel is all set to launch 4G trials in the country’s capital city New Delhi and adjoining areas later this week. Airtel bought the spectrum from Qualcomm some time back. The 4G network is expected to go live in New Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) in a few days.

Airtel has partnered with Nokia Networks to deploy FDD-LTE on 1800 MHz in six new (Mumbai, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab and West Bengal) circles across India, as expected. Airtel has launched 4G services in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The company already offers 4G services in Pune, Maharashtra since 2012. It launched 4G services in Patiala, Punjab last week. Nagpur is the 14th city in the country to get Airtel 4G, said the company. Customers in Nagpur too can access 4G on dongles and Wi-Fi CPEs (Customer Premise Equipment/ routers). 4G on mobile is not available in the city yet. Airtel today launched its new 3G dongle that would offer download speeds of up to 21.6 Mbps on 3G. This lets users create a Wi-Fi hotspot easily by plugging it into a laptop, phone charger or a car stereo. This can be shared with up to 5 devices simultaneously. WhatsApp is the current leader in the instant messaging app market with over 500 million monthly active users globally. In April WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum also touted that the service has over 48 million monthly active users in India.The cross platform app which was acquired by Facebook in February this year, has joined hands with Airtel to provide special data packs.
Last month, LG had announced the LTE variant of their popular G2 smartphone. While they had a demo of the device, it was mainly for the press and media. Now Qualcomm and LG have set up an LTE Experience Zone for the public in Bangalore.
