More than 55% Android users are on Android 2.1
Android OS is known as the one of the famous and the fastest growing operating system. Google has revealed some new fresh details about Android OS. The new Android fragmentation details shows that 55% devices are now running on Android 2.1. The main reason of this rapid growth is Droid X, EVO 4G, Samsung Galaxy S, and Motorola Droid. Only 3.3% devices are running on Android 2.2, and at the moment only Nexus One is running Android 2.2.
Still more than 40% devices are running Android 1.5 and 1.6, which contains devices like Motorola Cliq, Xperia X10, Xperia X10 Mini etc. I hope that latest Android build for these devices will be out soon, and then in next fragmentation chart, we will see only few devices running on Android 1.5 and 1.6.
New Android version is rumored to be out in Q4, which is known as Gingerbread or Android 2.3, then we will see some good, latest, and more devices running it.

Motorola undecided about Froyo for Milestone
Folks out there who are using the Motorola Milestone are waiting for Android 2.2 from a long time, but I think the following statement will break their hopes. Have a look:
Next European Milestone and 2.2 (Froyo). I have expressed over the last few days that the decision is pending. The team here has been collating key pieces of information and views from this community in the last month and providing input to relevant teams in Motorola so they are aware. I am pushing for that decision to be made as quickly as possible, and we can then all go from there. Some others ask why the decisions on upgrades take so long, and why does implementation then take much longer still. What I can say and have stated recently is that upgrades are not a walk in the park.
Sure there are short cuts that people can take, but when you have to integrate software to a specific hardware, then test it and integrate with third party applications, let alone any innovation from ourselves, plus then get approvals to make this all official and safe… its is a big undertaking that requires planning and resource and third party coordination to see this all through. As I say, once we have decision, we will inform.
That’s what Motorola European region MD, James King said. We want Motorola to launch Android 2.2, because Motorola Milestone is capable to run Android 2.2. Well, lets see what Motorola do, so stay tuned.
