Introduction

Apple had introduced the original iPad Mini without the RETINA display and that pretty much confirmed that the second generation of Apple iPad Mini would come with the RETINA display. As expected, Apple crammed a high resolution display(same resolution as the iPad Air) into the second generation iPad Mini which Apple calls – iPad Mini with Retina Display. In addition to sporting a high resolution display, the iPad Mini competes with Apple’s iPad Air in terms of specifications. Apple is using the same processing power inside each of its flagship iOS device – iPhone 5s, iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina Display.

Apple finally launched the iPad Air and the iPad mini with Retina display in India last week. This week’s askFA discussion is all about these new tablets from Apple. The iPad Air starts at Rs. 35,900 for the base 16GB WiFi version and goes up to Rs. 65,900 for the 128GB WiFi + 4G variant. The iPad mini with Retina display starts at Rs. 28,900 and goes up to Rs. 58,900. Both these have Retina displays at 2048×1536 pixel resolution, but the iPad Air comes with a large 9.7 inch display and the iPad mini with Retina display features a 7.9 inch screen. Apple iPad mini with Retina display goes on sale in a range of countries

 

Apple iPad mini Retina

Apple unveiled the Retina iPad mini  along with the iPad Air at an event last month. The iPad Air went on sale in range of countries on November 1st, but the launch date of the new iPad mini was unknown, now the Apple has started selling the Retina iPad mini from the Apple online stores in range of countries. The new iPad mini has similar specifications as the iPad Air, except for the display and battery. It has a 7.9 inch Retina Display with 2048×1536 resolution, new A7 64 bit processor and runs on the latest iOS 7.
