Huawei had hinted last month about a new phone launch at IFA with a press invite. It was expected that the Chinese smartphone maker will unveil the Ascend Mate 3, however, as per the latest invites the company will most likely unveil the Ascend Mate 7.

Huawei unveiled the Ascend Mate along with the Ascend D2 earlier today at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013. The Ascend Mate has a 6.1-inch 720p display unlike the Ascend D2 that has a 5-inch 1080p display. But the Ascend Mate has a 1.5 GHz quad-core Hi-Silicon K3V2 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) similar to the D2. Speaking on the Chinese social network, Weibo, Huawei Senior Vice President Yu Chengdong confirmed that Huawei is working on a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 competitor. The phone which has been rumored for a while is expected to ship with an absolutely massive 6.1 inch full HD display. The phone has been rumored to be called the Ascend Mate.
