[Update: Google has delayed the shut down from March 12th to May 12th, 2018 after feedback from users]
Google has launched new desktop application for Google Drive users, called Drive File Stream. Available for G Suite customers, it will basically replace the Google Drive desktop app for PC and Mac, which will no longer be supported starting on December 11 2017 will shut down completely on March 12 2018.
