BlackBerry India has just announced that the BlackBerry Q10 would be available in India for Rs. 38,990 starting today, as a part of a limited period festive offer. The BlackBerry Q10 was launched in India back in June at a price tag of Rs. 44,990. BlackBerry India shashed the price of the Z10 back in September, which was announced as a temporary price cut, but the smartphone is available in the market at a much cheaper rate. Blackberry Q10 hands on first impressions
Launched way back in January after a lukewarm reception for the Waterloo company’s new Blackberry 10 operating system, the Q10’s main aim is to bring the QWERTY keyboard that the company helped popularize, back in vogue, in a touchscreen dominated world. The device was launched after the full touch flagship, the Blackberry Z10, signaling the company’s move to a complete touch experience at its fore, but to keep the fans happy, the Q10 had to release eventually. And yes, it has finally landed in India, with a hefty price tag of Rs. 44,999. It marched into our labs the same day, and here are our first impressions of the device.

BlackBerry Q10 launched in India for Rs. 44990
BlacBerry has finally launched the BlackBerry Q10, their first BlackBerry 10 smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard in India as we reported recently. It was announced back in January. It comes with a 3.1-inch (720 x 720 pixels) Super AMOLED capactive touch screen display at 330 PPI pixel density which is the largest ever on a BlackBerry QWERTY smartphone. It has a 35-key QWERTY physical with wider layout and larger sculpted keys. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, packs a 2GB RAM, 16GB of inbuilt memory and supports microSD cards upto 64 GB.

Skype arrives on Blackberry Q10 in preview form
Skype had been telling us that they are indeed working on an app for Blackberry 10, and they have fulfilled that promise by releasing their ubiquitous voice, messaging and video calling app for the newly launched BlackBerry Q10, albeit in preview form. Note that this app is not native to the platform and is the Android app directly ported over to support BlackBerry’s emulation layer. It has launched just for the BlackBerry Q10 as of now, with optimized support for that screen size.

BlackBerry India head resigns
Just weeks after launching the BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry’s head honcho in India decided to resign the job, effective immediately. Previously known as Research in motion, the Waterloo company recently launched its revamped smartphone efforts with new devices based on the BlackBerry 10 operating system. The BlackBerry Z10 was launched in India with a hefty price tag of Rs. 43, 490 and it was supposedly sold out within two day, with BlackBerry scrambling to refill the chain with a fresh inflow of devices. But, after all this, it has been revealed that the BlackBerry India head is resigning today.

Alongside its full touch offering, Blackberry also announced a new keyboard equipped model during its launch events around the world.
Called the Blackberry Q10, the phone retains the excellent keyboard that the company’s devices are known for and brings the guts and OS of the new Z10.

BlackBerry Q10 with QWERTY keyboard, 3.1″ 331 ppi screen announced
BlackBerry has announced its new qwerty equipped smartphone, the BlackBerry Q10 which is part of its two pronged approach to market its next generation smartphone OS. Running BlackBerry 10, the phone has a proper physical QWERTY keypad. The back has what the company is calling a glass weave finish.
The phone has a 3.1″ screen with 720×720 resolution resulting in an impressive 331 ppi. The phone is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. 16GB of storage is available for users. It has a 8MP auto focus camera with LED Flash, 1080p video recording, 5x digital zoom, 2MP front-facing camera with 3x digital zoom and 720p HD video recording.
