Blackberry Z10 Hands On

Waterloo based smartphone manufacturer, Blackberry launched two new smartphones at its event in New York and across the world. The phones are powered by the Blackberry 10 operating system which takes cues from several other leading mobile operating systems and incorporates them into one single cohesive interface. We got some hands on time with the handset and here are our impressions.

BlackBerry Z10 – first BB10 phone announced with 4.2inch display

It is finally here – The BlackBerry Z10 in both Black and White, the first BlackBerry 10 phone from Research in Motion which is dropping the RIM branding. The phone packs a nice 4.2 inch display with 356 pixels per inch. In terms of internals , it is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and packs 2GB of RAM. It is powered by the BlackBerry 10 OS.

Leak reports Gtalk and Twitter to be integrated with BB10 O.S

Just a few weeks back we had reported that RIM is all set to launch BB10 with loads of applications, now as the time comes closer to the launch of RIM’s much awaited O.S rumors are coming in that Twitter and Gtalk will be integrated right into the O.S and will be included inside the Blackberry hub.

BlackBerry X10 shows up in leaked images

Toronto based Research in Motion, maker of the BlackBerry smartphones will be showing off its next generation offering at an event on 30th January 2013 but devices based on the BlackBerry 10 operating system have already been leaked. In the latest set of images we get a clear look at what will be RIM’s BlackBerry 10 based QWERTY equipped smartphone.

BlackBerry 10 may introduce BBM Video, Screen Sharing to BBM

It has been hinted more than once that video chat will be making its way to BBM once BlackBerry 10 rolls out. CrackBerry have got their hand on leaked slides which give us a glimpse of what could be the long awaited video calling service for BlackBerry users. Additionally it is believed that users will be able to share their screen which would be a killer feature for productivity oriented users.

BlackBerry 10 QWERTY handset shows up

RIM’s upcoming BlackBerry 10 based devices are no secret and have shown up more than a few times. Today, we got a glimpse at what might be the first QWERTY equipped device running BlackBerry OS 10. Named the “BlackBerry X10”, the handset brings a Bold 9900 inspired design to the struggling smartphone manufacturer’s next generation line up.

RIM announces Q3 earnings: $114 million net loss, $2.7 billion revenue, sales down 51% YoY

Blackberry manufacturer, RIM, today announced its third quarter earnings report. The company has reported losses of $114 million which is equivalent to $0.22 per share. Revenues were $2.7 billion during the quarter ending December 2012. The company has once again managed to beat analyst predictions who estimated losses to to the tune of $0.35 per share.

BlackBerry Z10 pictured in black, white in leaked marketing material

Another day and yet another image of the upcoming BlackBerry 10 based handset has turned up on the internet. Called the BlackBerry Z10, the company is expected to eschew using its traditional four digit model number naming scheme. The full touch smartphone will run the QNX based BB10 OS and is expected to be revealed on 30th January at an event in New York.

Blackberry 10 to launch with 70,000 apps in App world

Apps have become important for every mobile operating system, thanks to Apple and iOS, both Andorid and iOS now have more than half a million applications and one of the places where Blackberry failed at their O.S and smartphones before was the category of apps available. Now, Frank Boulben, the CMO of RIM has stated that consumers can expect more than 70,000 apps for the Blackberry 10 at launch.

Now 70,000 applications is really good news, but it also matters whether these applications are actually useful or are just useless. The quality of this application also matters, as developers have already shifted to platforms which is more popular like Android and iOS, so it is important to know whether they will devote time to make the experience of users better or not. Blackberry 10 is set to launch on Jan 30 2013, and it is a very important launch for RIM which will decided their survival. Blackberry Messenger 7 introduces free voice calls over WiFI

RIM today announced that they plan to bring voice capabilities to its popular BlackBerry Messenger service. The service will also bring additional features like integration with customer’s BlackBerry ID. Customers can initiate a BBM Voice Call directly or switch over to one from a BBM text chat.

Research In Motion ready to license BlackBerry 10 reports Bloomberg

Bloomberg is reporting that Research in Motion (RIM) is ready to license its upcoming BlackBerry 10 operating system to other smartphone manufacturers. The next generation OS is expected to be available on devices starting Q1 2013.
