BSNL Bharat Fiber broadband home service at Rs 1.1 per GB launched
BSNL has launched the Bharat fiber to the home service where it will offer 35GB data per day at as low as Rs.1.1 per GB and speeds of up to 100Mbps to take on Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. This move comes at a time where Jio is expanding its GigaFiber to over 1400 cities in the country before official roll out. BSNL gets Government approval for 4G services, wide roll out expected soon
The Department of Telecommunications today has approved the state-owned BSNL plan to seek airwaves in the 2100 Mhz band to launch 4G services pan-India. BSNL in 2017 has submitted a detailed project report and in a bid to acquire spectrum worth about Rs 13,885 crore, and sought Rs 6,652 crore as equity infusion from the government. Facebook is testing Express WiFi service in India
Facebook is testing an Express WiFi service in India and is in talks with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for a commercial launch. The social network has completed a pilot roll out of 125 rural public Wi-Fi hotspots in the country with a tie-up with state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

Interrupting my usual Internet binging over a daily 2 hour commute, was a message from my operator. The message said I had exhausted my 2 GB limit for high speed internet this month, and now will be forced to a ridiculously low speed of 64 kbps. Say what?! Yes, I understand the concept of a fair usage policy thank you very much, and hey, apparently, I can either go through with the reduced speeds or order an add-on pack for an additional 250 rupees for a GB of 3G data. How lovely!
