Yesterday I was invited to the premiere of The Commuter at Aqua Nueve, in Soho London. The short film stars Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire), Pamela Anderson, Ed Westwick and Charles Dance, and is directed by the McHenry Brothers. The premiere was attended by Charles Dance, Pamela Anderson, Peta’s Dan Matthews and Jermaine Jackson of the Jackson 5.

Finally…an innovation from Motorola!
The first mobile phone to combine Motorola’s ModeShift Technology and Kodak Imaging Technology was unveiled in Beijing, China. With Kodak Easyshare Software and easy access to Kodak Gallery or other web sharing sites, pictures are easily moved off the device, allowing consumers to print, share and enjoy their favourite photos whenever they want.

• 5 megapixel auto-focus camera
• Xenon flash
• Settings for low-light environments
• Multiple capture modes
• Multi-shot and
• Panorama – which automatically stitches together continuous shots taken on the horizon line into a single, extended image
• Gallery Link – to upload images in one click
Yes. That’s right. An 8 megapixel 28 x 15.3 x 8.5mm CMOS into a camera that will be available by the end of this year.
Now for some technical gyan:
The new camera phone module will be 10 percent smaller than present phone modules, and will feature low-light ISO 1600 sensitivity and F2.6 focal length, anti-shake function, face detection technology, and an automated shoot mode that is activated by silly, smiling faces (similar to the smile-shutter feature in some Sony Cyber-shots).
All said, some experts argue that mobile CMOS modules cannot match the quality of larger digital camera CMOS modules and CCDs; even if the chip were to deliver higher pixels, it would still get much lesser light than normal camera CMOS modules. Still others are of the view that Samsung’s camera lenses will not allow for better quality images than say Sony’s camera lenses despite the 8MP output size.
Recently while reading my monthly subscription of the T3 magazine of UK, I came across two small digital cameras. One was from Fujifilm and the other was from the Casio Exilim Series.
