Facebook announces Paper, a slick social news aggregator that lets you share your own stories

Facebook has taken the wraps off Paper, a new social news aggregator app that is designed to help you bring all the important stories, and even let you create your own. The app is first of the many apps that are in the works at Facebook Creative Labs, which plans to unveil a suite of mobile apps soon. Paper, which has very similar ideologies as Flipboard, shows you all the long form stories from your news feed, and lets you like and comment on them from the app, much like Facebook home, with a really cool presentation of full screen images and a card-like interface for other content. Other than that, you can also add your own categories and populate them with your own desired sources, just like you would, on a traditional news aggregator. Facebook Q4 2013 results out, mobile advertising accounts for 53% revenues

Facebook released its financial results for Q4 2013 today and the numbers show a steady rise. The extremely popular social network posted revenues to the tune of $2.59 billion compared to $1.59 billion last year. Facebook rumored to launch Flipboard competitor Paper this month

Facebook would launch Paper, a news reader app for mobile devices in coming weeks, according to a report from Re/code. The company launched a redesigned messenger app recently for both Android and iOS with a flatter design. Google launched Google Currents back in 2011 to compete with Flipboard, but it didn’t do well. Facebook announced its Facebook Home launcher for Android in April. Facebook is already the homepage on the desktops of most people and with Facebook Home, it is trying to stamp its authority even in the smartphone segment. Facebook Home was launched as a lock-screen replacement application and it brings posts from your Facebook feed right to the lock-screen of your Android smartphone.

Facebook v10.2.1 update brings Facebook Chat to BB10

The Facebook application for BB10 just got a fairly major update that adds some much needed features. Alongside the usual bug fixes that bring quicker newsfeed scrolling, you get a refreshed interface. The biggest addition however has to be Facebook Chat. Like on other platforms, you’ll be able to see when a friend is typing a message and search within the chat list.

Facebook working on Flipboard style news reader says WSJ

Facebook is rumored to be working on a new reader service that is internally known simply as Reader. The service displays content in a format geared towards mobile usage and draws data from Facebook users and publishers. The application is said to closely resemble Flipboard in terms of interface.

Facebook Home crosses 500,000 downloads

Facebook has been trying to make its mark in the mobile segment for a while now with both hardware partnerships and software based offerings. Its latest attempt, Facebook Home, has been downloaded over 500,000 times within the span of a week. The application works as a replacement homescreen, lockscreen and app launcher with a heavy focus on Facebook content. This number pales in comparison to Instagram which brought in 1 million downloads in under 24 hours.

Facebook Home, the launcher aimed at overtaking your Android phone has just leaked out in a half baked beta release. We took it for a spin on our Google Nexus 4, and found it to be quite buggy, but using the UI for the first time was a fresh experience. So, what do we think about the Facebook home? Facebook Home brings the social network to your Android homescreen

Facebook today announced its brand new Android Launcher called Facebook Home which will serve as a gateway to the social network’s services. The launcher is meant to replace the default skin on your Android device and hooks in with Facebook centric services. Predictably, the focus here is on sharing and keeping a track of whatever your friends are up to.

Facebook Home Android launcher coming to select HTC and Samsung phones on April 12

Facebook just announced their Facebook Home Android product and only select HTC and Samsung devices will be getting it initially. The Samsung Galaxy S3 , Galaxy Note 2 and HTC OneX+ are existing devices which are supported.The HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 are new devices which will be compatible with the app. Facebook  put rumors about a Facebook phone or an forked Android OS with the launch of this app.

HTC First leaked ahead of 4th April Facebook event

Facebook has been rumored to be working on a hardware element for its mobile strategy for years now and its intentions are expected to be revealed at an Android centric event to be held on 4th of April. Facebook for Android goes native, Now twice as fast

Facebook for Android has always  struggled with performance issues and particularly laggy scrolling due to its dependence on webviews instead of native code. The company has now finally rolled out a native build of the app for Android which promises to double the performance of the application. The application is expected to be twice as fast at looking at photos and opening up the timeline.
