Flipboard app finally arrives for Windows Phone

Flipboard for Windows Phone

Flipboard for Windows Phone that was released as private beta last month is now available for all the Windows Phone 8.1 users with at least 1GB of RAM. Flipboard for Windows Phone was announced last year, and it took more than year to release. The design is similar to other platforms, it lets you subscribe to different sources of curated content including social networks like Facebook and Twitter. Flipboard app lands on Windows Phone in private beta

Flipboard will soon launch a Windows Phone app, according to a statement released by the company. The popular digital magazine is already present on all  major platforms like Android, iOS and Blackberry.

At present the Flipboard app has landed on Windows Phone Store in private beta and has some time for a full fledged roll out. At present it has a good collection of news sources, like CNN and Los Angeles Times, personal magazines, social sharing and so on.

“We are working on a Windows Phone version of Flipboard. While we don’t have an exact date for you, it’s on our roadmap and should be available soon”

said Flipboard in an official statement.

It must be noted that the Flipboard app on Windows Phone needs a handset with 1GB RAM. No official date about when the app will be out of beta is known as of yet.

Flipboard acquires Zite, CNN’s News Reader app

In 2011, CNN acquired Zite, a news reader app. The market for News reader app was fast growing at the time and the race is now settling down. Flipboard has emerged as one of the leaders of News reader apps and despite many acquisition offers, Flipboard is still alone and not acquired by any big players. As a turn of events, Flipboard has acquired CNN’s Zite for a deal that could reach as high as 60$ Million.

Facebook announces Paper, a slick social news aggregator that lets you share your own stories

Facebook has taken the wraps off Paper, a new social news aggregator app that is designed to help you bring all the important stories, and even let you create your own. The app is first of the many apps that are in the works at Facebook Creative Labs, which plans to unveil a suite of mobile apps soon. Paper, which has very similar ideologies as Flipboard, shows you all the long form stories from your news feed, and lets you like and comment on them from the app, much like Facebook home, with a really cool presentation of full screen images and a card-like interface for other content. Other than that, you can also add your own categories and populate them with your own desired sources, just like you would, on a traditional news aggregator. Official Vine, Path and Flipboard apps coming to Windows Phone 8

In a teeny tiny statement on Nokia’s Press site, it has been mentioned that the much awaited video based social network Vine is coming to Windows Phone 8 soon, in the official form. Along with Vine, the different social network Path and the best mobile magazine experience Flipboard too is coming to Windows Phone 8 very soon, Nokia announced. It was revealed in Microsoft’s //build/ conference that Flipboard will be coming to Windows 8 and it was then revealed to the press that it was coming to Windows Phone 8 too. With these popular apps coming to the Windows Phone 8, will it finally be relevant at least across casual users? We’ll see.

Flipboard for Android officially launches, gets Google+ and YouTube support


Flipboard for Android is now out of beta testing and is now available from the Google Play Store, Amazon and Barnes & Noble Nook App Store. The Flipboard beta app was launched last month. It also brings support Google+ and YouTube.
