Samsung has announced that its recently launched Galaxy S5 has selling better that its predecessor Galaxy S4. The latest flagship smartphone has set a new record for the company with opening day sales being 30% higher to that of the S4, according to reports from ZDnet Korea. The Galaxy S5 has reportedly sold twice as well in some European market.

Samsung had big plans for its yesteryear flagships – Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 when it announced that both phones will be skipping Android 4.2.2 update and will be directly updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The big plan seemed to go well for the South Korean electronics giant as it released the Android 4.3 update for Galaxy S3 right on time, but only to be halted later because of performance issues.

The HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 are 2 high-end smartphones with some very impressive specs.The HTC One has a very premium feel to it and is made of metal and packs a 4.7 inch Super LCD 1080p HD display. The Galaxy S4 on the other hand is fully made of plastic and is extremely thin and light and packs a 5 inch SuperAMOLED 1080p HD display. Both phones are priced relatively the same worldwide. We were at the Samsung Galaxy S4 India launch event held at a pretty interesting location , the Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon near Delhi. Here are some photos and a short video we put together from the launch event for your viewing pleasure.Samsung called the event “Galaxy S3 World Tour 2013 India”. The presentation was not as crazy as the unpacked event in New York but close enough with a Bollywood style dance performance with a couple of dancers coming out from the ceiling ! The guys on the CyanogenMod team look to be working hard as they have released the M2 version which is for the second month. CyanogenMod has announced that they will be releasing stable version of CM10 every month. The updates have already started rolling for devices like Galaxy Nexus, galaxy S3 and S2.
Today’s announcement by EE on the arrival of 4G LTE in the UK heralds a new era in this Britain’s telecommunication industry. It’s been a long time waiting, and judging by the initial hands on demonstration, it seems that it will be worth the wait.
Huawei’s Ascend P1 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 were two of the few handsets on display at the EE press conference today. Initial speed test shows that the devices were capable of achieving and maintaining 25+Mbps download and 12+Mbps upload speed, a fair upgrade over T-Mobile’s current 3G network.
No price plans has been announced yet. The rollout of EE’s 4G LTE network will begin this year and they aim to cover 1/3rd of the population by the end of the year.

It’s very difficult for less adventurous Android users to get around stable versions of CM from time to time, the adventurous kind are usually happy with the nightlies. So then others have to look out for third party unofficial builds of CyanogenMod ROMs which are unreliable and can give problems. AT&T has announced the pre-order for the Garnet Red variant of the Samsung Galaxy S3 which is exclusive to AT&T. Customers can pre-order this device through the operators website and in the company’s retail stores starting from July 15. In-store availability is set for July 29th. We have already seen the White Galaxy S3 and the Pebble Blue S3 and this is the first glimpse at the red one. There a couple of photos after the jump.

Samsung India launched the Galaxy S3 Smartphone in India at Rs.43180 and pre-order customers had to purchase it Rs.42500 which was a little higher than the market price of around Rs.38900.if you were one of the customers who had pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S3 on Samsung India’s eStore and purchased it , good news for you. Samsung has sent out mails to customers who had purchased the Galaxy S3 on the eStore with a coupon worth Rs.1500. the company says in the mail that they are “overwhelmed with the response of Galaxy S III on the eStore.”
One of our readers who had pre-booked the Samsung Galaxy S3 in India through the Samsung eStore has received an order confirmation along with a coupon for Rs.2000 which lets one redeem the free Bluetooth headset along with the phone purchase. Here is another small piece of news you can spot in the email. The Marble White version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 will launch on May 31st. The Pebble Blue version won’t be available at launch and will be available for purchase only in the 2nd week of June.
The India launch of the Samsung Galaxy S3 is round the corner , May 31 being the date and Samsung has even started taking Pre-Orders for it’s biggest handset launch of the year. But Samsung has not revealed the price of it’s flagship Android device. The Galaxy S3 has landed on eBay India with a price tag of Rs.39,999 Rs.44770 and the seller says that the phone will be delivered after 1st June 2012. The Samsung Galaxy S2 was a big hit for Samsung and the company is looking to repeat history with the Galaxy S3. It might won some carrier confidence already as reports indicate over 9 million pre-orders for the device. The device is yet to reach consumers and goes on sale in many markets on May 31st and would be interesting to see the consumer response.
