Google has announced a major update to its Messages app, as well as a new icon for it, as well as the Google Phone and Contacts apps. The new icons are intended to work with Android’s ‘Material You’ themes. Google Messages has released a new update that brings 5 new features to it platform. These include sending quick reactions to messages, suggested stickers in Smart Reply, a basic media editor, dedicated buttons for voice messages and video calling.
As promised a few days back, the bubble support is rolling out on Google Messages beta in Android 11 through a server-side update. Similar to Facebook Messenger, a bubble will appear on the screen if the message comes up with a photo of the person or the first letter if there is no photo. Google has been testing integrating Rich Communication Services (RCS) in Android Messages for a few users in the USA for quite a while. Now Google has decided to broadly roll out RCS for all Android users through the Android Messages app. Users in the US will be able to enable RCS Chat features over the coming weeks.
