HTC, as a company, was going the wrong way for a while. For example, in May 2013, the company released a Snapdragon 200-powered Desire 600 with a 4.5 inch qHD display that cost people 27k rupees. The company had vowed to fix these things and bring its products back in line with consumer expectations, after which the Desire 816 happened. It was a mid range phablet with an affordable price tag and solid specifications. The Desire 820 (Rs. 24,999) is its spiritual successor, carrying forward all the positives of the 816, trying to add more value and keep up with the times. Does it succeed? Lets find out.

HTC has announced the Desire 820, the company’s latest phablet and the successor of the Desire 816 in India. It was unveiled at the IFA 2014 earlier this month and packs a 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display, powered by a octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor ( four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz per core and four clocked at 1.0 GHz) with Adreno 405 GPU / 1.2 GHz quad-core processor Snapdragon 410 processor and runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat with HTC Sense 6 UI on top, that it upgradable to upcoming release of Android L. HTC Desire 820 with 5.5-inch HD display, Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 SoC announced
HTC has unveiled the Desire 820, the company’s latest phablet at the IFA 2014 as expected. It has the 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display, similar to the Desire 816, but this is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor ( four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz per core and four clocked at 1.0 GHz) and has Adreno 405 GPU. It runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat with HTC Sense 6 UI on top, and it will be supported by the upcoming release of Android L. HTC confirms Desire 820 with Snapdragon 615 Octa-Core 64-bit SoC for IFA launch
HTC just confirmed that it would unveil the Desire 820, successor of the Desire 816 at its IFA 2014 event on September 4th 2014. The company has also teased the smartphone with an image that shows the smartphone’s front-facing camera sensor, blue colored rear shell and something that looks like a speaker grill, similar to the one on the Desire 816 smartphone.
