Huawei unveiled the Ascend Mate 2 at the CES 2014 earlier this year. We brought you the hands-on impressions of the smartphone from the event. Here we have the smartphone with 4G LTE support for unboxing. This is the successor of the Ascend Mate that was launched last year, and looks similar to its predecessor in terms of design, but the internals have been upgraded. Huawei has just unveiled the Ascend Mate 2 4G at their CES 2014 press conference today in Las Vegas. The refreshed Ascend Mate, which was one of the first 6 inch devices to enter the world of phablets the same time last year, packs the same 6.1 inch 720p display, with a supposedly better IPS panel and finally incorporated 4G LTE inside. The Ascend Mate 2 4G is also slightly thinner than its predecessor and boasts a 200 MHz increase in clock speed featuring the 1.6 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with Adreno 305 GPU. Sporting a new 13 MP BSI sensor on the back, it improves upon the 8MP one on its predecessor and also comes with a 5 MP front facing camera this time around.

Last week images of the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 surfaced, but the display resolution was not confirmed. Now Engadget Chinese reports that the Ascend Mate 2 would have the same 6.1-inch 720p screen present on the Ascend Mate, but this would use a faster 1.6 GHz processor and run on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) with Emotion UI on top. More images of the phone confirms the 13-megapixel rear camera through the camera UI on the phone. The images show shiny back with patterns and chrome finish on the sides. Huawei launched the Ascend Mate in India back in June, which was one of the best mid-range large-screen smartphones at that time. Now, images of the Ascend Mate 2 has surfaced on weibo from the popular C Technology. According to the images, the Black phone is the Ascend Mate and the White one is the Ascend Mate 2. According to the leaked image, the Ascend Mate 2 has a narrow frame with a smaller bezel. It is also likely to come with brushed metal frame, but this might just have a plastic build that looks like Metal, says the user.
