Worldwide Wearable shipments reach 32 million units, up 21.7% YoY in Q3 2018: IDC

According to IDC, the global shipments of wearable devices reached 32.0 million units in the Q3 2018, up 21.7% from the previous year. New products from the likes of Fitbit, Garmin, and Huawei helped the basic wearables category return to growth during the quarter. Another factor was the growing demand in markets like Asia which accounted for more than half of all shipments and grew 21.4% compared to the previous year. Huawei teases full-screen smartphone with in-display camera for December

Huawei has posted a new teaser that reveals that it working on a new smartphone that might be competing with the Galaxy A8s which is rumored to have a small hole within the display to accommodate the front camera. Huawei said to be testing Google’s Fuchsia OS on Kirin 970 powered Honor Play

It is already known that Google is testing Fuchsia operating system for months now, though it never spoke about it publicly. It is also speculated that eventually, Fuchsia will replace the Android operating system completely, and possibly even Chrome OS too. Apart from Samsung, LG, Huawei is also working on foldable smartphone whose name is still in the hiding. However, much like LG, Huawei to has trademarked smartphone names; Mate F, Mate Flex, Mate Flexi, and Mate Fold on 21st November 2018 at the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office).

Worldwide tablet shipments declined 8.6% in Q3 2018, Apple and Samsung continue to lead: IDC

According to IDC, the worldwide tablet market declined 8.6% during the Q3 2018. The global shipments fell to 36.4 million and the slate tablets accounted for the majority of the market with 31.6 million units, down 7.9% from the previous year. Detachable tablets also declined, down 13.1% from the previous year, and accounted for 4.8 million unit shipments. Global smartphone shipments down 6% in Q3 2018, Samsung leads with 72.2 million, Huawei posts 32.9% YoY growth

According to the IDC Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, smartphone vendors shipped a total of 355.2 million units during the Q3 2018; this is a 6% decline year-over-year.  This was the fourth consecutive quarter of year-over-year declines for the global smartphone market.
